All of our new construction projects are now run through Architecture in Glass Ltd.  We offer the finest new bespoke glass houses and glazed architectural structures available.

Our careful inventive approach is illustrated in the following studies, showing a wide variety of conservatories and orangeries built for clients in Britain and Europe.  Please select the project image links opposite.

Glass houses, which incorporate both conservatories and orangeries, historically trace their origins back to when individuals cultivated exotic plants unsuited to colder climates.  By housing these potted plants within a glass house during the winter months, the plants were able to flourish whilst creating a room for entertaining which united the home and garden.

Today conservatories and orangeries more typically create valuable living spaces whilst introducing light and panoramic views between the home and garden.
By commissioning the design and build of an Architecture in Glass conservatory or orangery, you will create what many clients deem their most loved and used space within their home.  Whether a country residence or a more space-restricted city terrace, a solution can be found which is both attractive and the most efficient use of the available space.  Architecture in Glass possesses extensive experience within this area and combines this with our client’s individual requirements to create the finest bespoke glass houses available.

Each project begins with analysing your individual needs and surroundings.
Our unique glass and timber designs are an imaginative response to those needs whether it be a light and spacious conservatory or a historically sympathetic orangery.  Whatever the design it will be created to utilise space with maximum effectiveness and sensitivity to its environment.  As you will see, our designs are meticulously thorough, with an eye for proportion and order and a passion for period architecture, fine quality and detail.

Every project is built to a unique design and dimensions.  Our premium quality hardwoods are selected for their strength, durability, even grain and resilient paint performance.  Our choice typically includes African mahogany species Utile and Sapele, obtained from certified and sustainable sources.  All the components are finely moulded in our own unique traditional English profiles and are individually prepared for each project.  Equally we can match joinery to faithfully replicate existing profiles or to architect’s details if required.

Many question what differentiates a conservatory from an orangery.  The format has become a little blurred over time, but essentially the differences are the proportion of glass used within the structure and the relationship of the glazed roof to the elevations.

Conservatories are predominantly glazed buildings with glazed roofs sitting directly over their glazed elevations.  The form of a conservatory is mainly determined by the design of its roof and therefore the characteristics of the roof control the design of the new building.  The facades generally take their cue from their surroundings; consequently no two designs can ever be the same.

The essence of an orangery is that, whilst offering exceptional light, it is not purely a glass building.  Rather, it is a building that contains a high proportion of glass.  Orangeries can therefore be designed to use every kind of material; from brick to stone, from timber to steel.  By separating the roofs from the elevations, a wealth of subtle and highly individual buildings can be created.  Intensely bright and airy, their versatility allows them to be easily integrated into their surroundings.

We offer the design, construction and installation of all joinery works and our highly experienced team of fitters will ensure unrivalled attention to detail and customer service during installation.
